How will you be the face of Christ today?
by Renae Bauer
The rich man wore fine fabrics and ate without concern for impoverished Lazarus who, as Sunday’s Gospel says, “would gladly have eaten his fill of scraps that fell from the rich man’s table.” Soon, though, their fates are reversed. At their deaths, Lazarus is carried away by angels while the rich man is tormented in the netherworld.
Jesus’ message to the Pharisees and to us certainly is clear. Mercy is needed, not indifference; compassion, not complacency.
Reflection questions:
- What is one action I can take today to show Christ’s mercy to someone else?
- How do I need Christ’s mercy in my life? Can I include it in my prayers?
Well done. Thank you.
