Reflection for Oct. 10, 2021

A camel and a needle

What is Jesus' concern about wealth?

In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims, “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” What is Jesus’ concern about wealth? Here are some ideas. What would you add?

  • Are we caring for one another or just ourselves?
  • Are we aware that our earthly possessions mean nothing, whereas God is our everything?
  • Do we find “happiness” in things rather than in God and in love and service to others?
  • What do we treasure in our hearts? Does it lead us to God or serve as a barrier?
