Gospel speaks to the importance of being ready

by Sister Lynne Marie Simonich

Our Gospel for this 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time is the familiar parable of the 10 virgins who were waiting to meet the bridegroom. They are described as five wise and five foolish ones. What made the five wise? Jesus tells us that they were prepared. They brought enough oil to keep their lamps burning in case the bridegroom was late in arriving. They were alert! The five foolish ones, after searching for oil for their lamps, returned late and were locked out of the wedding feast.

Reflection questions:

  1. What is the “oil” you need to allow light to shine in our world?
  2. Do you identify with the wise or the foolish ones?
  3. What does “wisdom” mean to you?

Good Morning Sister!

I loved your Questions & Thoughts!

Are we ready? The Jacobs' Family found out yesterday that we are never totally ready, as our Dear Oldest Sister, Celina passed away. Celina was 97 as of last Monday. All that remains now are Annie, Mary Lou, Ronnie and me - Father Bill

You & the Sister's Prayers would be appreciated...

In God's eternal Love,

Father Bill Jacobs
