Reflection for Nov. 30, 2025

A season to begin again

Advent invites us to watch, wait and opening ourselves to grace

by Sister Laura Zelten

The First Sunday of Advent marks the start of a new liturgical year and a sacred season of active preparation. It calls us to awaken our hearts, live intentionally, and redirect our focus toward the coming of Christ. Advent is more than waiting — it’s about watching with hope and preparing with purpose. Amid a world full of distractions, this season gently urges us to slow down and create space for God in our lives.

We are invited to walk in the light by choosing peace, kindness, and honesty.  Each small act of love and each quiet moment of prayer becomes a step in preparing the way for Christ. Advent reminds us that renewal doesn’t always require dramatic change — it often resides in the daily choices to trust God, serve others, and remain faithful.

This Sunday sets the tone for the weeks ahead: a journey of hope rooted deeply in faith. As we release what dims God’s light within us, we open ourselves to His grace and presence. Advent is our opportunity to begin again — moving forward with joy and anticipation, welcoming Christ anew into our hearts and lives.

Reflection Questions:

  • How can I renew my faith this Advent through small, daily practices?
  • What does preparing for Christ’s coming mean to me personally?
  • What hope do I carry into this season and how can I nurture it?
