Reflection for April 18, 2021

All for us

Jesus shows the way to be in union with God

Sunday’s readings are rich with guidance:

  • We have an Advocate in Jesus Christ
  • Our Advocate wishes us peace
  • Our Advocate wants us to be free of sin
  • We can grow in knowing our Advocate through His commandments
  • When we doubt or have troubled hearts, we can turn to Him
Reflection questions:
  • How well do I receive Jesus’ peace? Who would benefit from my sharing of His peace?
  • Which commandment do I know? Which commandments can I work on?
  • What are one or two ways in which I ask Jesus to ease my troubled heart?

I find the image of Advocate so comforting. Being an advocate means accompanying someone in their life. It is just what Jesus does with us. Thank you.

Which Commandments do we know? We have a clear idea about what most mean. Being an advocate for others or providing a community service without reward or recognition speaks to the Commandments regarding our neighbors and their needs or greater need of our community. By doing so we begin to "know" these Commandments more deeply.

Thank you for the reflection.

Wrap your arms around us, Jesus, and help us to walk each other home.
