Time after time, Jesus invites us to what is most important: Follow Him. This week, the message comes to us through Martha and Mary. Martha works hard to create a welcoming environment for Jesus while Mary stops working so she can listen to Him. Martha’s complaints to Jesus are quelled by His words, “There is need of only one thing.”

Thank you Sister for your gentle reflective reminder.
Listen ... Learn ... Love ... The "one thing necessary" just might be listening with an open heart .... Why else do our two [open] ears form the shape of a heart? When God formed and fashioned us, giving us one ear on each side of our "head," that when joined together, actually form a "heart," was S/He giving us a clue as to what constitutes FULLNESS OF LIFE -- a listening heart?
The need to be a Martha and Mary in life is the dance of balance. We need times of contemplation and action. Thanks for the thought provoking questions.
I loved the art piece and was drawn into it. These very questions were a major part of my recent retreat. Thanks.
