Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

by Sister Lynne Marie Simonich

As we celebrate the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time Sirach tells us, “If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you.” (15:15) St. Paul tells us that God is preparing something wonderful for us.

And Jesus?  He challenges us to live in a world where anger and grudges are forbidden; where reconciliation takes priority over worship; where we speak with simplicity and integrity.

With so much violence in our world we know very well how anger affects our lives.
Reconciliation is not a reality right now.  We hear things on the news – are they fact or not?  The challenge Jesus gives us is a difficult one for sure but just one kind act can cause a ripple effect that brings gratitude, peace and affirmation.

Maybe the challenge is not so difficult.  What can each of us do or say to bring a glimmer of peace, a sign of hope, or a sparkle of joy to our fragile world?

Sister Lynne Marie: Very nice reflection.

The saying goes, we can not change the world, BUT we CAN make a difference !!:)
