Drawing closer to the Paschal Mystery during Lent

Three actions renew our lives in Jesus’ salvation

by Renae Bauer

Prayer. Fasting. Almsgiving. The mere mention of these words will shift a Christian’s mind to Lent.

As our Church begins the 40-day journey toward Easter, we invite you to join us online as we reflect on the three pillars of Lent.

  • Each evening will begin at 6:30 pm and run approximately 45 minutes.
  • Each event is free but registration is required.
  • Each event requires a separate registration.
  • All sessions will be conducted via Zoom. Instructions and a Zoom link will be emailed to registrants the Monday before each session.
Feb. 25 -- Prayer

Throughout the season of Lent, we are asked to deepen our prayer life. Sister Elise Cholewinski will share with us the meaning of prayer, give us different methods to use in prayer and lead in an experience of prayer. She will provide resources we can use to deepen our relationship with God.  Click here to register.

March 11 -- Fasting

Sister Ann Rehrauer will review the practice of fasting in the Hebrew Scripture, the New Testament, and other religious traditions, the benefits of fasting, and different ways of fasting in today’s culture that might help jump start our spiritual batteries.  Click here to register.

March 25 -- Almsgiving

Traditionally focused on monetary giving to assist the needy, the scope of almsgiving may be broadened to include sharing one’s time, talents and treasure. Sister Sally Ann Brickner will share Shel Silverstein’s parable The Giving Tree which will provide a backdrop for contemplating the relationship between the boy and the tree that analogously pertains to Jesus’ self-emptying example in his dying and rising.  Click here to register.

What will you do this Lent   to bring forth new life?
