Sister Madonna Swintkoske

Sister Madonna Swintkoske

Sister Madonna Swintkoske prayed to our Blessed Mother for guidance in discerning her vocation to be a Sister. Her decision was made and now after 60 years, she is grateful that God has blessed her with a vocation to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, which she entered in 1956.

Born Audrey Swintkoske on September 9, 1938, to Wencil and Anna (Baloun) Swintkoske in Kewaunee, she attended Holy Rosary Grade School and Kewaunee High School. She has a bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College and master’s degrees from the University of Detroit, Notre Dame University and Loyola University.

Over the years, Sister Madonna ministered as a grade school teacher and principal, then in Community ministry as vocation director, formation director, council member, Community Leadership Team and Community Life Facilitator at the Motherhouse. She also devoted time as a pastoral associate in a parish and pastoral care at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She expressed that her 60 years as a Sister were challenging and rewarding. They were years of growth, joy and enrichment. “The love and support of my Sisters in Community, my family, friends and co-workers have blessed me over these years,” she wrote.
