Sister Christine Wochos

Sister Christine Wochos was born in Algoma to Charles and Valeria (Blahnik) Wochos and was blessed with two younger brothers: James and Kenneth.

She met the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross while attending the yearly summer vacation school at her home parish, St. Hubert in Rosiere. After graduating from Casco High School, she entered religious life in 1960. She received her education at St. Norbert College in De Pere and completed graduate studies in Elementary Administration at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mich.

Sister’s teaching years were launched in 1963 and continued until she retired in 2012. Her ministry took her to St. Boniface, De Pere; St. Mary, Peshtigo; Holy Cross, Mishicot; Holy Martyrs of Gorcum, Green Bay; Sts. Peter and Paul, Institute; All Saints, Denmark; and St. John Nepomucene, Little Chute. She was also the principal at All Saints School and at Holy Martyrs. (Read "I had many happy experiences as a teacher"). From 2013 to 2022, Sister served as Assistant to the Community’s Director of Associates. She also helps the Sisters with whom she resides at the Motherhouse.

Sister Christine is grateful to God for her call to religious life, to the Sisters, her family, her many students, and everyone who over the years provided her with many beautiful memories. She finds delight in God’s many gifts to her: Jesus, her vocation, Community, family, friends, rainbows, flowers, birds, and all creation.
