Sister Mary Paul Thetreau served out of love for Jesus

Sister Mary Paul Thetreau, age, 89, died on Sept. 20, 2021. The former Marian Agnes Thetreau was born on Dec. 16, 1931, in Marinette, Wis, daughter of the late Paul and Rose (Rebarchick) Thetreau. She entered the convent in 1947, professed her final vows in 1956, and celebrated her 70th Jubilee in 2018.

Sister Mary Paul graduated from Green Bay Vocational School as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She served as a homemaker in many Community convents: Osman, Howard, Green Bay, De Pere, Marinette, Peshtigo, Darboy, and Columbus. Texas. As a practical nurse she ministered in health care facilities in Marinette, Green Bay, Peshtigo, and Appleton.  Since 2006 she has served in Community service at the Motherhouse.

Survivors include a sister, Irene (Thomas) Whatley of Bryan, Texas; a brother, Deacon Jerome (Clarice) Thetreau of Marinette, Wis.; nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Paul and Rose; brothers Joseph and Francis (infants), and Rev. Paul Thetreau, SJ; and a sister, Frances (infant).

Friends may call at St. Francis Convent, 3110 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay on Thursday, September 23 at 4:30pm. for the reception of the body and visitation.  The Vigil Service will be at 6:00pm. Visitation for Sister Mary Paul will continue on Friday, September 24 at Holy Cross Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, from 9:30am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial will be in the St. Francis Convent Cemetery.

The Sisters of St. Francis and the family of Sister Mary Paul wish to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at St. Francis Convent, the staff at Bornemann Nursing Home, Moraine Ridge Assisted Living Center and Unity Hospice for their loving care and support.
