Karen Phillips

I was originally introduced to the Associate Relationship by Rheda Jelen, a fellow parishioner and an Associate. After realizing that it wasn’t in God’s plan for me to be a Sister I decided to be an Associate. I am very blessed and honored that I was accepted and will become one.

As a member of Annunciation Parish in Green Bay, I volunteer in Eucharistic ministry, parish finance council, Picnic in the Park event (feed families and pray for them), and other events. I most enjoy volunteering at the A & A Alexandrina Center, a pro-life pregnancy help center. We mentor and listen to women when they need an ear. We also provide diapers, formula, clothing, toys, books, and parenting information. It is so rewarding when a woman changes her mind and decides to keep her baby.

I have one child, Nicole; two grandchildren, Anthony and Philip; and two stepgrandchildren, Elijah and Ella. My cousin Amy is like a daughter to me and her children -- Kira, Kenzie, Kyler, Kaydence, Kolby, Kasen, Kolt and Kamden -- are like my grandchildren.

What are Associates?

The Associate Relationship is open to men and women who want to:

  • deepen their relationship
  • with God
  • partner with the Sisters in prayer and Gospel mission
  • model a new vision of community in their lives
  • strive to live Gospel values in their daily lives
