What do you think of a woman who is unemployed, incarcerated or addicted to drugs or alcohol?
What we assume isn't always accurate. To help dispel such myths and celebrate International Women's Day (March 8) people are invited to the second annual "Learn From Me, Not Just About Me" presentation. It will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at St. Francis Convent, 3110 Nicolet Dr., Green Bay. The event is free and open to the public, and is part of the ministry outreach of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross.
Four women who have lived on the margins of our society will talk about their experiences and what has made a difference to them and their families.
"We live among them and they are among us," says Sister Jackie Capelle, a member of the Sisters' Ministry Circle, which is organizing the event. "We will invite people to consider befriending people in similar circumstances and consider how they can respond to what they have heard."
Rooted in the Cross, Word, and Eucharist ... compassionately responding through prayer, presence, and hospitality.
