Gratitude marks Sister's 50 years of teaching, pastoral care

Sister Geraldine Krautkramer

Celebrating this golden anniversary brings to mind gratitude. Yes, all that has been and is yet to be -- that is good -- is from our loving God. Reflecting on these past years in the service of God's people I have learned that being faithful and trusting in God one can endure the hardships and welcome the God-surprises. I believe that every person whom I have met has taught me something about life.

As a young Sister I longed to meet Jesus, to see the face of God. Today being a servant and disciple of Jesus I have found the presence and face of Jesus in each person I meet. This is something I have prayed for and is gift from God alone.

My servant ministry has been in education (St. John the Baptist, Howard; St. Boniface, De Pere; St. Mary, Peshtigo; St. Paul, Combined Locks; St. Francis, Coleman; and St. Mathew and Resurrection, Green Bay), in pastoral care (St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Green Bay and Circle of Faith Catholic Community in Denmark), and in spiritual guidance. Through directing and supervising clinical pastoral education (CPE) over a period of 20+ years and providing spiritual guidance, I have been blessed by each person who has touched my life. Yes, I am grateful.

Even though we walk at times through the dark valley alone and with others, I know God is there. I have come to believe that there is no place where God is not. Every place I have been called to provide ministry, I've come to know that God was there first and has prepared a place for me.

Thank you, God!
