Sisters Support Effort to Dispel Myths about Immigrants
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”
When Emma Lazarus wrote these words, she was not looking into the future and seeing the current challenges the United States is facing in regard to immigrants. We now face the challenge of immigrants who have long lived, worked, and raised families in our country but who are not citizens.
During the months of February and March, we join with 14 other religious communities of women to sponsor an ad campaign. The goal of the campaign is to provide a source of accurate information about immigrants in the United States and to join our Catholic Bishops in providing support for immigration reform in our country.
