Sister Connie Receives Felician Award
Sister Connie Wavrunek received the 2010 Felician Award for Excellence in Service to the Elderly in honor of her work on behalf of senior citizens in Manitowoc County, WI. Vicky Schneider, Director of Mission Services at Felician Village, shared, “In her 25 years in Manitowoc, Sister Connie has devoted specific attention to those in need including the elderly. Clearly Sister Connie has given her life in ministry serving others with compassion to preserve human dignity, justice and peace for all.”
One example is the Care Ministry Program she developed for the Diocese of Green Bay. Through this one program, she has helped train hundreds of persons to be active volunteers serving the needs of the elderly in nursing homes, assisted living facilities or in their own homes. She also provided much needed group support for those grieving the loss of a loved one. On receiving the award, Sister Connie looked back on her arrival in the Holy Innocents/St. Francis of Assisi Parish. She reminisced that at that time she had no idea where the needs of the parishioners and local community would take her.
Congratulations, Sister Connie!
Many lives have and continue to be touched by your
compassion and sensitivity to the needs of others.
