Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross in Green Bay, WI

Sister Rose Jochmann

Spirit of St. Francis has been in Sister Rose's heart from the beginning

Sister Rose Jochmann

Sister Rose Jochmann is a native of Darboy where her parents, Rosella and Edward Jochmann, and six siblings belonged to Holy Angels Parish. Starting in grade school, she appreciated nature, including picking spring flowers with a friend in her grandfather’s woods. As a true follower of St. Francis, she continues to enjoy spending time outdoors.

After having the Sisters of St. Francis as teachers at Holy Angels School, Sister Rose entered this Community. The training and education in the pre-novitiate, postulancy and novitiate culminated with her first vows. She remembers her clear intent of giving herself to Christ so that she could serve His people.

A graduate of St. Norbert College in De Pere, Sister Rose began her teaching ministry at St. Matthew, Allouez, and eventually taught at Holy Trinity, Casco; St. Boniface, De Pere; St. John the Baptist, Howard; and the Oneida Summer School, Oneida, where she served as a coordinator. After nearly 20 years of teaching, Sister Rose served as a principal for two years at Holy Cross in Green Bay. She then entered into her longest service, that of community treasurer for 34  years. To prepare for this role, she completed Notre Dame University’s Master of Science in Administration program. Sister Rose served three terms as Vice President on the Leadership Team. She served on the Building Committee for the new Motherhouse. While on the Renewable Energy Committee and the Sustainability Committee of the Community, she oversaw the installation of solar panels at the convent in 2014 and 2019.

Sister Rose is grateful for the opportunities for personal, professional, and spiritual growth provided through living in Community, through serving in ministry, and through retreats and conferences. Her guiding theme has been, “In God we live and move and have our being.” ~ Acts 17:28
