Since I can no longer drive, I do my sightseeing right here at our convent. My eyes are glued on the graceful Blue Heron as it glides down to our pond. I see Sister Marietta equipped with a butterfly net by her herb gardens and beyond in pursuit of Monarch butterflies. These she will tag with a number that butterfly preservers will check when the butterfly arrives in Mexico later this year.
Some days Sister Clare can be seen rushing to the clotheslines so that early morning breeze will dry the clothes before the sun is fully awake. In the garden, Sister Marie Goretti's timely harvesting supplies us with beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and more. In the well-cared for rose garden Sister Marie Therese expertly clips rose buds. These will be lovely decorations for our dining tables and the Sisters' rooms.
I enjoy the sight of walkers neatly parked outside the dining room door. They await the return of their owners who have more distant destinations. Sister Germaine will retrieve her walker to take her daily early morning walk outside all around our building. She also uses it in our little kitchen where she bakes and prepares goodies for her homebound friends and delicious brunches for the Sisters on special occasions. Sister Regina utilizes her walker to hustle many places. Perhaps she will be the driver for a Sister needing to go to an appointment or she may go to check if there are any needs at our Beach Lane cottage. Sister Eugene impresses me as I watch her pushing her oxygen tank. She may be on her way to her room where she oversees the used stamps collection.
Oh, dear! I must stop sightseeing as I spotted my tutor's manual for teaching English. I need to prepare Herminia's lesson designed to help her become bilingual.
