For the holidays: Sister Gerald created all sorts of confections for the Sisters and guests to enjoy. Last year, she made 895 dozen cookies and 411 loaves of bread (wheat, white, rye and carrot raisin). Renae Bauer photo

Visitors to our Motherhouse often receive a cookie or two as a gesture of hospitality. Young visitors quickly memorize the location of our cookie drawer where eight tins (give or take a few) are ready at the wait. But from where do all those cookies come?
Meet Sister Gerald Lu Maye, our resident cookie and bread expert. Each Monday and on the occasional Saturday you can find her in the kitchen mixing or kneading, rolling and baking something wonderful.
Since everybody loves a cookie, we thought it would be fun to give away a dozen. If you'd like to enter the drawing, send your name, address and phone number to:

The drawing will be after Lent.
