Joan and Norb claim a long-time relationship with the Bay Settlement Sisters. Joan attended Holy Cross Parish grade school and speaks highly of her Sister-teachers in school. Joan and Norb were married at Holy Cross Church and their six children attended the parochial grade school as their mother did.
Norb dreams for ways to enhance the spirit of hospitality between the Sisters and the nearby neighbors at Holy Cross Parish. There was greater opportunity when the Motherhouse was a next-door neighbor of Holy Cross. He keeps on dreaming!
Central to Joan and Norb's lives has been their efforts and prayer for strong family relationships. That is reflected in the celebrations and family get-togethers. Beyond the family they also are sensitive to the needs of the shut-ins in their neighborhood. Joan bakes the sweet bread and then encourages Norb to deliver the treat to a neighbor in need.
